Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Allogeneic human mesenchymal stem cells (Allo-hMSCs) are bone marrow-derived stem cells sourced from healthy donors, developed as a cell-based therapeutic for cardiac regeneration. Investigated primarily by Dr. Joshua M. Hare at the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute and developed by Longeveron, these cells are delivered via transendocardial injection to treat chronic ischemic left ventricular dysfunction and non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. The therapeutic mechanism involves paracrine signaling and regenerative processes that aim to reduce myocardial scar tissue and restore left ventricular ejection fraction. Due to their immunoprivileged and immunosuppressive properties, these allogeneic cells can be administered without the need for HLA matching or recipient immunosuppression.
