Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Allogeneic human mesenchymal stem cells (Allo-hMSCs) are an investigational cell therapy being developed by the University of Miami for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Administered via intravenous infusion, these donor-derived multipotent stromal cells are designed to migrate to the site of brain injury and promote recovery through multiple mechanisms, including the secretion of neurotrophic paracrine factors, immunomodulation of the inflammatory response, and stimulation of endogenous neural repair processes. The therapy is currently being evaluated in the EXPAND expanded access study, following earlier research by the University of Miami demonstrating safety and potential efficacy in chronic stroke patients.
