Allogeneic human neural stem cells (hNSCs), specifically the cell line 03/14b, is an investigational cell therapy developed by Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza IRCCS in collaboration with Revert Onlus. These cells are derived from fetal brain tissue obtained from a single miscarried donor and are produced under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions. The therapy is administered via intracerebroventricular injection and is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS). The mechanism of action is thought to involve neuroprotection, immunomodulation, and potential remyelination within the central nervous system, aimed at stabilizing or improving clinical parameters in patients with progressive forms of multiple sclerosis.
