Allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) developed by the Red de Terapia Celular (TerCel) are a cell therapy product derived from healthy donor bone marrow. These cells are expanded *in vitro* using human platelet lysate as a growth supplement to avoid the use of animal-derived products like fetal bovine serum. The therapy is primarily investigated for the treatment of persistent cytopenias (such as anemia, neutropenia, or thrombocytopenia) that occur following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). MSCs exert their therapeutic effect through immunomodulation and by providing essential stromal support to the bone marrow microenvironment, secreting various growth factors and cytokines that facilitate the recovery of hematopoietic lineages.
