Allogeneic natural killer cells (Marzieh Ebrahimi) is an investigational cell therapy being developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory high-risk neuroblastoma. The therapy utilizes CD56+ natural killer (NK) cells isolated from healthy, unrelated donors, which are then expanded and activated ex vivo using a cytokine cocktail of interleukin-2 (IL-2), IL-15, and IL-21 via the CliniMACS system. These activated NK cells are designed to target and eliminate tumor cells through natural cytotoxicity—mediated by the recognition of downregulated or mismatched HLA class I molecules—and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). Clinical evaluation, led by Marzieh Ebrahimi at the Royan Institute, has focused on pediatric patients, particularly those with MYCN-positive neuroblastoma following autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
