Allogeneic platelet lysate is an investigational biologic therapy being developed by Sophia Al-Adwan at the University of Jordan for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and critical limb ischemia (CLI). The therapy is prepared from allogeneic platelet-rich plasma (PRP) collected from blood group AB donors, which is then processed to release a concentrated mix of growth factors and bioactive molecules. It is administered via intramuscular injection into the gastrocnemius muscle to promote therapeutic angiogenesis and tissue repair. A Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT03297814) is evaluating its safety and efficacy using measures such as the ankle-brachial index (ABI), toe pressure, and transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TcPO2).
