Allogenic dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a cell therapy being developed by the Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery and Research Centre to improve the osseointegration of dental implants. These cells are harvested from dental pulp and introduced into the alveolar ridge during the surgical placement of implants. The mechanism involves the cells' ability to differentiate into osteoblasts and secrete bioactive factors that promote bone formation and modulate the local immune environment, thereby enhancing the stability and integration of the implant into the jawbone. This approach is primarily investigated for patients with edentulous alveolar ridges to ensure better long-term outcomes for dental prosthetics.
