ALM27134 is a bispecific monoclonal antibody that simultaneously targets Interleukin-13 (IL-13) and the OX40 ligand (OX40L). Developed by Almirall in collaboration with Wasserman Medic, this therapeutic candidate is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. IL-13 is a key cytokine in the Th2 inflammatory pathway, while OX40L is a costimulatory molecule that promotes the activation and survival of pathogenic T cells. By dual-targeting these pathways, ALM27134 aims to provide superior efficacy and more durable clinical responses compared to existing monoclonal antibodies that target only a single pathway. The bispecific approach is intended to inhibit both the immediate inflammatory response and the underlying T-cell memory that contributes to disease chronicity.
