Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ALMB-0166 + NBP is a combination therapy under development by AlaMab Therapeutics, a subsidiary of CSPC Pharmaceutical Group, for the treatment of stroke. The combination consists of ALMB-0166, a humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and inhibits Connexin 43 (Cx43) hemichannels, and butylphthalide (NBP), a small molecule drug approved in China for ischemic stroke. ALMB-0166 aims to prevent the release of neurotoxic molecules and pro-inflammatory cytokines by blocking the abnormal opening of Cx43 hemichannels in astrocytes and other cells following an ischemic event. NBP complements this by improving microcirculation, protecting mitochondrial function, and reducing neuronal apoptosis. This dual-action approach is designed to provide synergistic neuroprotection and improve functional recovery in stroke patients.
