alogliptin + metformin hydrochloride

Alogliptin + metformin hydrochloride is an oral fixed-dose combination antidiabetic product developed by Takeda for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines alogliptin, a small-molecule dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor that enhances endogenous incretin activity and thereby increases glucose-dependent insulin secretion while suppressing glucagon, with metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide insulin sensitizer that primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. The combination is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and is marketed as tablets including 12.5 mg/500 mg and 12.5 mg/1000 mg strengths.
