Overview

A combination of an alpha-blocker and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Alpha-blockers are a class of medications that inhibit the stimulation of alpha-adrenergic receptors, leading to relaxation of blood vessels and smooth muscle, commonly used for hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia. NSAIDs are a class of drugs that provide analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis. This combination is not available as a fixed-dose pharmaceutical product but may be encountered when both classes are prescribed together for comorbid conditions such as hypertension/prostate symptoms with pain or inflammation. Coadministration can lead to clinically significant drug interactions; notably, NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive efficacy of alpha-blockers and increase the risk for renal impairment or cardiovascular events[1][2][5].
