alprazolam + granisetron

This is a combination of two small molecule drugs, alprazolam and granisetron. Alprazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine used primarily for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders; it acts as a positive allosteric modulator at the GABA~A~ receptor, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system[3][5]. Granisetron is a selective serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery by blocking serotonin-mediated emetic signals in both the gut and brain[1][6][8][10]. The combination has been studied for enhanced control of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), particularly in patients receiving moderately or highly emetogenic regimens. Clinical studies indicate that adding alprazolam to granisetron may improve antiemetic efficacy compared to granisetron alone, especially during acute phases post-chemotherapy[2][7].
