Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zespea Gel (ZESPEA-GEL) is an oral suspension formulation developed and marketed by Thrift Pharmaceuticals in India. It is a fixed-dose combination therapy containing dried aluminium hydroxide gel, magnesium hydroxide, oxetacaine (oxethazaine), and simethicone. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that chemically neutralize gastric acid, providing rapid relief from hyperacidity. Oxetacaine is a potent local anesthetic that remains stable and active in highly acidic environments, providing rapid and prolonged numbing of the gastric mucosa to relieve pain associated with gastritis, peptic ulcers, and esophagitis. Simethicone is an antifoaming agent that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles, facilitating their coalescence and expulsion to alleviate bloating and flatulence. Zespea Gel is indicated for the symptomatic relief of gastrointestinal conditions such as acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis, and associated pain and bloating.
