Utilizing the MultiTEP platform, the vaccine is designed to target pathological proteins associated with Alzheimer's, specifically amyloid-beta (Aβ) and tau. The formulation includes Vaxine's proprietary Advax adjuvant (specifically AdvaxCpG, a delta inulin-based adjuvant), which enhances the immune response to elicit high-titer antibodies. These antibodies are intended to reduce the accumulation of pathological protein aggregates in the brain, offering both potential preventive and therapeutic benefits. Specific candidates within this program include AV-1959R (targeting Aβ), AV-1980R (targeting tau), and the dual-specificity vaccine AV-1953R.
