Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AMOTUS-LS is a combination pharmaceutical product marketed by Bengal Biopharma, typically formulated as a syrup for the treatment of productive cough associated with bronchospasm. It contains three active ingredients: ambroxol, guaifenesin, and levosalbutamol (also known as levalbuterol). Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent that thins and loosens thick mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that increases the volume of airway secretions to facilitate their removal. Levosalbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a bronchodilator, relaxing the smooth muscles in the airways to improve airflow. This combination is commonly used in the management of conditions such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) where mucus clearance and airway obstruction are clinical concerns.
