Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amino acid (15) peritoneal dialysis solution is a specialized dialysis fluid containing a mixture of 15 essential and non-essential amino acids, developed by Chengdu Qingshan Likang Pharmaceutical. It is designed for use in patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) undergoing Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), specifically those who are suffering from protein-energy malnutrition. Unlike traditional glucose-based solutions, this formulation uses amino acids as the osmotic agent to facilitate ultrafiltration and the removal of metabolic waste products. Simultaneously, it provides a nutritional source of nitrogen as the amino acids are absorbed across the peritoneal membrane into the systemic circulation, helping to improve the patient's nutritional status and mitigate the protein loss often associated with long-term peritoneal dialysis.
