Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amino acids + sorbitol intravenous infusion is a sterile parenteral nutritional solution containing a balanced mixture of essential and non-essential amino acids combined with the sugar alcohol sorbitol. It is administered intravenously to provide nutritional support for patients unable to meet their protein and energy requirements orally or enterally. The solution supplies building blocks for protein synthesis (amino acids) and provides additional caloric value (sorbitol), supporting tissue repair, immune function, recovery from surgery or illness, and management of malnutrition. Sorbitol also acts as an osmotic agent that can enhance fluid retention and hydration status in clinical settings[5][6]. This formulation is used in hospitalized patients requiring total parenteral nutrition (TPN) or supplemental IV nutrition.
