Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of aminoglutethimide (an adrenal steroid inhibitor), fluoxymesterone (a synthetic androgenic anabolic steroid), and hydrocortisone (a corticosteroid). This combination has been studied for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women, particularly after prior hormonal therapy. The mechanism involves suppression of adrenal hormone production by aminoglutethimide, androgenic effects of fluoxymesterone, and prevention of ACTH reflex phenomenon by hydrocortisone.
