Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aphylin is a fixed-dose combination syrup developed by Obsons Pharmaceuticals for the symptomatic relief of productive coughs and respiratory congestion associated with asthma, bronchitis, and the common cold. It contains aminophylline, a bronchodilator that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle via phosphodiesterase inhibition and adenosine receptor antagonism; diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors and muscarinic receptors to reduce allergic symptoms and suppress cough; and ammonium chloride, an expectorant that irritates the gastric mucosa to reflexively increase respiratory tract secretions and thin mucus. Aphylin is approved and marketed in Pakistan.
