Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nuoertong Compound Methoxyphenamine Capsules is a fixed-dose combination drug containing aminophylline, chlorpheniramine, methoxyphenamine, and noscapine. It is widely used in China for the treatment of bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, and coughs associated with other respiratory tract disorders. Methoxyphenamine is a beta-adrenergic receptor agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle. Aminophylline acts as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor and adenosine receptor antagonist to promote bronchodilation and reduce mucosal edema. Noscapine is a non-narcotic cough suppressant that acts centrally to inhibit the cough reflex, while chlorpheniramine is an H1-antihistamine that reduces allergic symptoms and airway inflammation. The combination is marketed under the brand name Nuoertong by Shanghai Yan'an Pharmaceutical and Shanghai Sine Pharmaceutical.
