Aminophylline + methylprednisolone is a combination therapy consisting of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used primarily in the management of acute exacerbations of respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aminophylline is a bronchodilator that acts mainly as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, adenosine receptor antagonist, and histone deacetylase activator, leading to relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and improved airflow. Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; it modulates gene expression to reduce inflammation in the airways.
