Overview

Tryptizole + Librax refers to a combination drug regimen evaluated by Fayoum University for the treatment of primary palmar hyperhidrosis. This regimen consists of amitriptyline (the active ingredient in Tryptizole), a tricyclic antidepressant, and Librax, which is a fixed-dose combination of chlordiazepoxide (a benzodiazepine) and clidinium bromide (an anticholinergic). The therapeutic rationale for this combination in hyperhidrosis relies on the potent antimuscarinic properties of both amitriptyline and clidinium bromide, which inhibit the eccrine sweat glands' response to acetylcholine. Additionally, chlordiazepoxide serves to reduce anxiety-induced sympathetic overactivity, a common trigger for palmar sweating. This specific oral combination was compared against stellate ganglion block in clinical research conducted in Egypt.
