Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Am-Descol is a unique fixed-dose combination branded generic medication developed by Nabiqasim Industries, primarily marketed in Pakistan. It combines amlodipine, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, with desloratadine, a non-sedating second-generation tricyclic antihistamine. Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to peripheral vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. Desloratadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist used to manage symptoms of allergic rhinitis and urticaria. This combination is specifically designed for patients suffering from comorbid hypertension and allergic conditions, aiming to improve patient compliance by reducing the pill burden through a single-pill regimen.
