Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical for the treatment of patients with comorbid hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Marketed under the brand name Amosartan R (and known during development as HCP1306), it combines three active pharmaceutical ingredients: amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker), losartan (an angiotensin II receptor antagonist), and rosuvastatin (an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor). Amlodipine and losartan work through complementary pathways to reduce blood pressure—by inducing peripheral vasodilation and inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, respectively—while rosuvastatin lowers LDL cholesterol by inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. This combination is specifically designed to reduce the pill burden and improve medication adherence in patients who require simultaneous management of high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.
