amlodipine + telmisartan

Amlotel is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication containing amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, and telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Developed and marketed by Scilife Pharma, it is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy or as initial therapy in those likely to require multiple agents to reach blood pressure targets. Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral vasodilation and reduced systemic vascular resistance. Telmisartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). The combination provides synergistic blood pressure reduction through two distinct pharmacological pathways.
