Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ammonium chloride + LY2140023 is an investigational drug combination evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT01440478) to study the impact of urinary pH variations on the pharmacokinetics of the antipsychotic prodrug LY2140023 (pomaglumetad methionil) and its active metabolite LY404039. LY2140023 is an oral prodrug of LY404039, which acts as a selective agonist of metabotropic glutamate 2/3 (mGlu2/3) receptors. Originally developed by Eli Lilly and Company and later licensed to Denovo Biopharma, LY2140023 has been investigated for the treatment of schizophrenia. In this specific pharmacokinetic study, ammonium chloride was administered as a urinary acidifier to lower urinary pH, allowing researchers to determine how changes in urine acidity affect the renal clearance and overall disposition of LY2140023 and its active metabolite.
