Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Ammonium lactate + halobetasol** is a topical combination drug consisting of ammonium lactate lotion 12% and halobetasol propionate ointment 0.05%, used for corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses such as plaque psoriasis, eczema, rash, and allergic skin reactions. Halobetasol propionate is a superpotent topical corticosteroid small molecule that exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects primarily through agonism of the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to suppression of inflammatory mediator signaling. Ammonium lactate acts mainly as a humectant and keratolytic moisturizer that improves skin hydration and scaling. The combination has been used as a topical kit and has been reported in clinical use and publications to improve plaque psoriasis clearance and support maintenance therapy while potentially reducing steroid-associated cutaneous atrophy compared with prolonged corticosteroid use alone.
