Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amfun Cream is a topical antifungal medication containing the active ingredient amorolfine. Developed by Resilient Cosmeceuticals, it is approved for the treatment of dermatophytoses, which are fungal infections of the skin such as ringworm, athlete's foot, and jock itch. Amorolfine belongs to the morpholine class of antifungals and works by interfering with the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. It specifically inhibits two enzymes: sterol delta-14-reductase and cholestenol delta-isomerase. This dual inhibition leads to the depletion of ergosterol and the accumulation of atypical sterols, resulting in structural and functional changes in the fungal cell membrane and ultimately cell death.
