Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Xynclav (specifically Xynclav-625) is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet containing the penicillin-class antibiotic amoxicillin, the beta-lactamase inhibitor clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate), and the probiotic lactic acid bacillus (Lactobacillus). Developed by Grevis Pharma, it is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections. The addition of clavulanic acid prevents the enzymatic degradation of amoxicillin by beta-lactamase-producing resistant bacteria, thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum. The inclusion of Lactobacillus serves to restore and maintain healthy gut flora, reducing the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
