Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hardclav is a combination antibiotic and probiotic formulation developed and marketed by Avogadro (Avogadro Lifesciences). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, ears, and sinuses. The formulation combines amoxicillin, a penicillin-class beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, with clavulanic acid (often as potassium clavulanate), a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation by resistant bacteria. In its tablet form, Hardclav also includes Lactobacillus acidophilus (lactic acid bacillus), a probiotic component that helps restore and maintain healthy intestinal microflora, thereby mitigating common antibiotic-associated gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea.
