Overview

This post-operative care regimen is a pharmacological combination consisting of the antibiotic amoxicillin, the analgesic and antipyretic sodic dipyrone (metamizole), and the antiseptic chlorhexidine. Developed as a standardized protocol for a clinical trial led by Renato Correa Viana Casarin, the regimen is designed to manage the recovery of patients with edentulous jaws undergoing dental implant surgery. Amoxicillin (500 mg) is administered to prevent bacterial infections by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Sodic dipyrone (500 mg) provides systemic pain relief and fever reduction, while 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash is used for local decontamination of the surgical site. The combination aims to optimize the environment for osseointegration by minimizing inflammation and microbial load during the critical early healing phase.
