Overview

This is a combination of three antibiotics—amoxicillin, metronidazole, and doxycycline. Each component has a distinct mechanism of action: - **Amoxicillin** is a penicillin-type beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. - **Metronidazole** is a nitroimidazole antibiotic effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis. - **Doxycycline** is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This combination does not have an established brand or code name as a fixed-dose product but may be used off-label in clinical practice for complex or refractory infections where broad-spectrum coverage—including both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria—is required. It has been studied in the context of periodontal disease (as adjunctive therapy) and considered for use against persistent forms of *Borrelia burgdorferi* (Lyme disease), though not as an approved fixed combination[1][2]. Each drug individually is widely used for various bacterial infections.
