Amoxicillin + Netilmicin

Amoxicillin + netilmicin is a combination of two antibiotics used to treat serious bacterial infections, particularly those caused by resistant organisms. Amoxicillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis and leading to cell lysis and death. Netilmicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds irreversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, causing misreading of mRNA and inhibition of protein synthesis, which results in bactericidal activity. The combination may be used for synergistic effects against certain pathogens such as Enterococcus faecalis; however, studies have shown mixed results regarding enhanced efficacy over monotherapy with amoxicillin alone[1][2]. Both drugs are administered parenterally for severe infections including bacteremia, septicemia, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections[3][5][6].
