amoxicillin or clindamycin + platelet-rich fibrin (Ceren Melahat Donmezer) refers to an experimental local drug delivery system investigated for the management of postoperative outcomes following the surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars. This intervention involves the incorporation of either amoxicillin (a beta-lactam antibiotic) or clindamycin (a lincosamide antibiotic) into a Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) matrix, which is then placed directly into the extraction socket. PRF serves as a biological scaffold that releases growth factors such as VEGF, TGF-beta, and PDGF to promote tissue healing and bone regeneration. The addition of local antibiotics aims to provide high concentrations of antimicrobial activity at the surgical site to prevent infection and reduce pain, swelling, and trismus, while avoiding the systemic side effects associated with oral antibiotic therapy. This specific application was studied by researcher Ceren Melahat Donmezer in a clinical trial involving 60 patients.
