Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Amoxicillin sodium + sulbactam sodium is a combination antibiotic drug consisting of the broad-spectrum beta-lactam amoxicillin and the beta-lactamase inhibitor sulbactam. Amoxicillin acts by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are essential for bacterial cell wall synthesis. Sulbactam protects amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity. This combination is administered via injection and is indicated for various infectious diseases caused by resistant, enzyme-producing bacteria, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections and urogenital system infections. It was developed and is manufactured by Sichuan Proud Era Pharmaceutical (Sichuan Pharmaceutical Inc.).
