Amphotericin B + Lassar's paste is a compounded topical formulation primarily used in dermatology and palliative care for the treatment of localized cutaneous fungal infections, such as intertrigo or perianal candidiasis. **Amphotericin B**, a polyene antifungal agent, works by binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, leading to the formation of aqueous pores that cause the leakage of essential intracellular components and subsequent cell death. **Lassar's paste** (Zinc and Salicylic Acid Paste BP) acts as a vehicle and a therapeutic adjunct; it contains zinc oxide, which provides a protective astringent barrier against moisture and irritants, and salicylic acid, which provides keratolytic activity. The salicylic acid helps to soften and shed the outer layer of the skin, potentially improving the penetration of the antifungal agent into the infected tissue while the starch and paraffin base protect macerated skin areas.
