anacetrapib + atorvastatin

Anacetrapib + atorvastatin is an oral fixed-dose combination of two lipid-modifying agents: **anacetrapib**, a cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor, and **atorvastatin**, a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor). Anacetrapib inhibits CETP, resulting in increased HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) and decreased LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C). Atorvastatin is a well-established statin that lowers LDL-C by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase. The combination has been studied for additive effects on lowering LDL-C, raising HDL-C, and reducing progression of atherosclerosis and major coronary events in high-risk cardiovascular patients. Notably, the REVEAL study showed that adding anacetrapib to background atorvastatin led to significantly greater reductions in major coronary events compared to atorvastatin alone. Anacetrapib remains investigational and is not commercially available as a fixed combination with atorvastatin[1][2][4][6][7].
