Anagliptin + miglitol is a fixed-dose combination of two oral antidiabetic agents used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Anagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases endogenous levels of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), by inhibiting their degradation. This results in enhanced insulin secretion and suppressed glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, improving glycemic control. Miglitol is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays carbohydrate digestion and absorption by reversibly inhibiting intestinal alpha-glucosidase enzymes, thereby reducing postprandial hyperglycemia. The combination therapy has been shown to improve glycemic control more effectively than either agent alone, with additive effects on increasing active GLP-1 levels and modulating GIP concentrations after meals[2][5][8]. It is primarily indicated for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
