Overview

A combination therapy consisting of anakinra (a recombinant form of the endogenous interleukin-1 receptor antagonist) and methotrexate (a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug). This combination is primarily used for treating rheumatoid arthritis that has not responded adequately to methotrexate alone. The combination provides significantly greater clinical benefit than methotrexate monotherapy in reducing the severity of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, improving physical function, and decreasing acute phase reactants.
