Overview

Anastrozole + dovitinib is a combination of two small molecule drugs with distinct mechanisms of action. Anastrozole is a potent non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that selectively inhibits the enzyme aromatase, thereby reducing estrogen synthesis and lowering circulating estrogen levels. It is primarily used in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer[3][5]. Dovitinib is an oral multi-kinase inhibitor targeting fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFRs), and other kinases involved in tumor angiogenesis and proliferation. The rationale for combining these agents would be to simultaneously inhibit estrogen-driven tumor growth (via anastrozole) and block key signaling pathways involved in angiogenesis and cell proliferation (via dovitinib). However, there are no published clinical studies or regulatory approvals specifically for this combination as of June 2025.
