Overview

Anastrozole + etoricoxib is a combination of two small molecule drugs, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Anastrozole is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that reduces estrogen production by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, thereby limiting the growth of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells in postmenopausal women. Etoricoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor used primarily for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The combination has been investigated in clinical trials for adjuvant treatment in early breast cancer to assess whether adding COX-2 inhibition to hormonal therapy could improve outcomes or reduce side effects[1].
