Overview

A combination regimen consisting of **andecaliximab**, a monoclonal antibody targeting matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9); **gemcitabine**, a nucleoside analogue antimetabolite; and **nab-paclitaxel** (nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel, marketed as Abraxane), an antimicrotubule agent. Andecaliximab inhibits MMP9, an extracellular enzyme involved in the degradation of the extracellular matrix, tumor invasion, and metastasis. Gemcitabine is incorporated into DNA and inhibits DNA synthesis, leading to apoptosis. Nab-paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division. This combination is being studied for synergistic effects in solid tumors (notably pancreatic cancer) and is administered intravenously[1][2][3][4][5].
