Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Androgen deprivation therapy + docetaxel** is a combination regimen primarily used for the treatment of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) involves medical or surgical methods to reduce androgen levels or block the action of androgens, thereby depriving prostate cancer cells of growth signals. Docetaxel is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits microtubule disassembly, leading to apoptotic cell death. The combination of ADT and docetaxel provides a dual mechanism: suppression of androgen-driven proliferation and direct cytotoxicity to cancer cells, leading to improved progression-free and overall survival in eligible patients.
