Overview

**anidulafungin + liposomal amphotericin B** is a combination of two antifungal agents used primarily for the treatment of severe or resistant fungal infections, especially those caused by Candida species. **Anidulafungin** is an echinocandin class antifungal that inhibits (1→3)-β-D-glucan synthase, blocking the synthesis of β-D-glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall, resulting in osmotic instability and cell lysis. **Liposomal amphotericin B** is a polyene antifungal formulated in liposomes to reduce toxicity; it binds to ergosterol in fungal cell membranes, forming pores that cause leakage of cell contents and cell death. This combination may exhibit synergistic or additive effects and is typically considered in refractory or invasive infections including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, and Candida auris, especially in biofilm-associated infections or in catheter-related bloodstream infections.
