Anidulafungin + voriconazole is a combination of two antifungal agents used primarily in the treatment of invasive fungal infections, especially invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. Anidulafungin is an echinocandin that inhibits (1→3)-β-D-glucan synthase, disrupting fungal cell wall synthesis. Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal that inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase (CYP51), blocking ergosterol synthesis and compromising fungal cell membrane integrity. The combination has shown additive or synergistic effects against Aspergillus fumigatus, including strains with reduced susceptibility to azoles. This dual mechanism targets both the cell wall and membrane, potentially improving outcomes in severe or resistant cases[1][2][6].
