Overview

Allerex is an ophthalmic small molecule combination drug developed and marketed by Lin-Kabs Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of allergic conjunctivitis and minor ocular irritations. The formulation consists of antazoline hydrochloride, a histamine H1 receptor antagonist, and naphazoline hydrochloride, a sympathomimetic alpha-adrenergic agonist. Antazoline works by blocking H1 receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as itching and swelling. Naphazoline acts as a vasoconstrictor by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors on conjunctival blood vessels, which reduces redness and congestion. Allerex is administered topically as an eye drop and is approved for use in managing various inflammatory eye disorders.
