Anti-CD133 CAR-T cells are an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Zhujiang Hospital for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's T-cells to express a CAR that specifically recognizes CD133 (Prominin-1), a glycoprotein often expressed on the surface of leukemic stem cells and hematopoietic progenitor cells. By targeting CD133, these CAR-T cells are designed to selectively identify and eliminate AML cells, including the stem cell population that is frequently resistant to conventional chemotherapy and responsible for disease relapse. This therapy is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with advanced myeloid malignancies.
