Anti-CD19 CAR-NK cells is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, for the treatment of refractory or relapsed systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The therapy consists of natural killer (NK) cells derived from healthy donors that are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) specific for CD19, a protein found on the surface of B cells. By targeting and depleting these B cells, the therapy aims to reset the immune system and reduce the production of autoantibodies characteristic of SLE. As an allogeneic "off-the-shelf" product, it potentially offers faster access and a more favorable safety profile, including lower risks of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity, compared to autologous CAR-T cell therapies.
