Overview

This investigational dual-targeting chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is being developed by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital in China for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The therapeutic approach involves the co-administration of T cells genetically engineered to target two distinct antigens: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), which is ubiquitously expressed on malignant plasma cells, and CD19, which is expressed on a subset of myeloma progenitor cells. By simultaneously targeting these two antigens, the therapy is designed to enhance anti-tumor efficacy and minimize the risk of disease relapse due to antigen escape. The treatment typically follows a lymphodepletion regimen of fludarabine and cyclophosphamide and is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation to assess safety, tolerability, and the maximum tolerated dose.
