anti-CD19 CAR-T cells + anti-CD22 CAR-T cells refers to a combination cell therapy approach being developed by the Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Universitario La Paz. This treatment involves the administration of two distinct autologous T-cell populations, each modified with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) to target either the CD19 or CD22 surface proteins. Both antigens are prevalent on B-lineage cells, and dual targeting is employed to mitigate the risk of antigen escape, where cancer cells evade therapy by losing the expression of a single target. This strategy is primarily investigated for patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The therapy can be administered either simultaneously or sequentially to optimize persistence and efficacy. The CD19 component is often based on the academic construct ARI-0001 (varnimcabtagene autoleucel), while the CD22 component is ARI-0003.
